Workflow

My recommendations for how you should manage your development experience. This applies not only for this course, but your general dev life. This is how I managed my environment when I was a student, and largely still use this workflow today.

Whether you have one laptop that you work on at home and bring to school, or you have a computer at home and work on the lab machines at school, you should always use Git and GitHub.

Caution

For your non-CS classes, feel free to continue using OneDrive/Google Drive/iCloud etc. but please stop syncing your source files with these general purpose cloud services. You can use a general purpose cloud service as a secondary form of backup if you wish, but the primary method should always be Git.

Why?

1. Git is the defacto industry standard.
2. Plain Text is unreasonably effective.
